Our culinary bike tour begins in Palma, the island's capital. After a morning on the bike, we recommend a visit to the Mercat de l'Olivar, a bustling market brimming with fresh regional produce. Try a "llonguet", a typical Palma sandwich filled with ham, cheese and "sobrassada" (a sausage made on the island). A refreshing "horchata", a drink made from tiger nuts, rounds off breakfast perfectly.

We continue our ride westwards, where the village of Valldemossa lies. Here you really must try the "coca de patata", a sweet pastry made from potato dough that is traditionally served with hot chocolate. A perfect pick-me-up after the steep climb into the picturesque village.

Further north, in Sóller, the "gamba roja", the red prawn, is an absolute must. This shellfish is famous for its sweet flavour and tender texture and can be enjoyed in many local restaurants as part of "arroz brut", a traditional Mallorcan rice dish.

Crossing the Tramuntana mountains to the east, we reach Lluc, where a stop at the monastery canteen is an absolute must. Here you can try the "frito mallorquín", a traditional dish made of offal, potatoes, onions and peppers. It is a hearty and nourishing dish that replenishes your energy reserves.

Our route continues eastwards to Artà. In this area you really should try the "pamboli", a typical meal of bread, tomato, garlic and olive oil, often served with ham, cheese or "sobrassada". A simple but delicious dish that tastes perfect after a long day in the saddle.

We finish our culinary bike tour in the south of the island, in the town of Campos. Here the "ensaïmada" is queen. This yeast pastry, baked in the shape of a spiral, is one of the island's best-known products. Whether filled with pumpkin or chocolate, the "ensaïmada" is the perfect sweet finish to our culinary journey.
