Electric Road Bike Hire in Mallorca – Compare All Providers
Hiring an electric road bike is no longer a niche request in Mallorca: 35 bike rental shops on the island stock road bikes with motor assistance, many from brands such as Cube, Trek, Orbea, Specialized or Cervélo. An e-road bike pays off whenever your legs and your ambitions don't quite match: when you want to keep up with a mixed-ability group, when you're getting back in the saddle after a break, or when you're taking on the Serra de Tramuntana despite few training miles. The motor supports you up to 25 km/h – uphill it evens out the gap to stronger riders, and on the flat you roll along just like on a normal road bike. You'll find them wherever the road-cycling scene sets off: around Port de Pollença and Alcúdia in the training-camp north, at Playa de Palma or in Paguera in the south-west. Below you'll find all 35 providers compared – with genuine reviews and verified contact details.

What to look out for when hiring an e-road bike
- Get to know the motor system: E-road bikes rely on light, discreet drives – usually compact mid-motors or hub motors in the rear wheel – which, like any pedelec, cut out at 25 km/h. What matters is how naturally the assistance kicks in: ask the shop to show you the support levels and controls at handover before you set off on your first ride.
- Plan the range realistically at road-bike speed: Above 25 km/h you pedal without the motor, so it's mainly the elevation gain and the support level you choose that determine how long the battery lasts. A proven approach: ride on the flat with no assistance or the lowest setting and save the boost for the climbs. Ask your rental shop what range the model realistically manages and whether a spare battery is available for long Tramuntana loops.
- Keep an eye on the weight: An e-road bike weighs more than a classic carbon racer, but noticeably less than an e-trekking bike – you'll feel it whenever you ride above 25 km/h or with an empty battery. If you're after a comfortable bike with a motor for day trips rather than a sporty riding position, you'll be better served by our e-bikes.
- Bring your own pedals and shoes: As with classic road-bike hire, most providers fit your own pedals free of charge at handover. Enter your pedal system in the booking form and the bike will be set up and ready for you.
- Compare insurance and deposit: E-road bikes are among the most valuable bikes in any rental fleet – so what applies in the event of theft or a crash matters all the more. Some providers work with all-inclusive prices that include insurance, while with others insurance and a deposit cost extra. The transparency box in each provider profile breaks down exactly which items the rental price actually covers.
- Book early: Only 35 bike rental shops in Mallorca stock e-road bikes at all, and the fleets are smaller than for classic road bikes. In the peak season from March to May and September to October, it's best to reserve your preferred model and frame size online weeks in advance.
Where to take your e-road bike: rides with a tailwind
The real appeal of the e-road bike: rides that would otherwise call for a full training camp become doable on ordinary holiday fitness too – and in mixed-ability groups everyone rides the same route.
- Sa Calobra – the classic, now for everyone: 9.4 km, 26 hairpins and around 670 metres of climbing up to the Coll dels Reis are a test for well-trained legs without a motor – with assistance, arguably the island's most famous climb becomes doable even after a short spring. Starting points with rental shops nearby are Alcúdia, Playa de Muro and Port de Pollença. Save the battery on the approach, because after the descent down to Sa Calobra you have to climb the same hairpins back up.
- Cap Formentor as a relaxed half-day ride: From Port de Pollença it's a good 40 kilometres there and back, adding up to around 800 metres of climbing; starting from Alcúdia the loop grows to about 60 kilometres and 1,100 metres of climbing. With an e-road bike, this rolling scenic stage becomes a ride where you still have eyes for the view at the top.
- Tramuntana loop via Sóller: From Palma over Bunyola and the hairpins of the Coll de Sóller across to Sóller, several long climbs follow one after another – exactly the terrain where motor assistance makes the difference between a slog and pure enjoyment.
Would you rather climb entirely under your own steam? You'll find all the providers of classic road bikes without a motor on our overview road bike hire in Mallorca.
