Google's Robot Car on Mallorca?
With its self-driving car project, software giant Google has now managed to get a law under way in California that allows driverless, autonomously controlled passenger cars to be used on public roads.

Is Governor Edmund J. Brown, with the stroke of his pen, ushering in a new era of getting around? For now, a driver holding a valid licence must still sit behind the wheel, but by 2015 a regulation is due to come into force that makes driverless transport possible.
Driverless cars on Mallorca — transfers and the taxi trade would feel it
It is surely still a scenario for the future: an automated taxi driver picking up the Mallorca holidaymaker at San Joan airport and ferrying them driverless along the Via Centura to the luxury Hotel Mardavall in Portals, with paying in cash surely no longer an option.
Until then, the taxi trade and transfer providers can breathe a sigh of relief and carry on transporting millions of holidaymakers across the island every year.
