"James Bond" Producers Scout Locations on Mallorca

Is Mallorca in the Frame as a Location for the Next James Bond?

The Balearic island as the setting for future action scenes and chases involving the storied British spy James Bond: if it is up to Pedro Barbadillo, foreign film studios will increasingly shoot their productions on Mallorca in the future. The founder of the "Mallorca Film Commission", who has an excellent network in the film industry, played a key role in a meeting between the Balearic premier, Bauzá, and Pinewood manager Ivan Dunleavy, who was researching possible engagements on the island on the studio's behalf. The exploratory talks suggested that Pinewood Studios could be interested in building a film studio here. In any case, the island is of great interest for partial productions, and various locations are under consideration.

Skyfall Producer Pinewood Studios Seeks Filming Locations on Mallorca

Pinewood Studios is the production company behind the latest James Bond film, "Skyfall", in which 007 once again saves the world from collapse. With the presence of a renowned studio like Pinewood, Mallorca could become even better known and appreciated as a film backdrop. Securing a filming permit for Mallorca should be no problem for the British spy; while this issue has cost several Bond films production time and filming locations in the past, the direct involvement and cooperation of the Balearic government dramatically increases the potential of unique locations. Mallorca's most beautiful spots are unfortunately often hard-to-reach attractions that are also inaccessible for public film productions.

The film production "Cloud Atlas", starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry, drew the attention of both Pinewood and other filmmakers to Mallorca. The acclaimed Hollywood production was filmed partly on the island and has led to heightened attention for the Mediterranean island when it comes to international film productions on Mallorca.
