Fred Rompelberg trades today as Rompelberg Cycling Holidays and is primarily a cycling-holiday operator with its own bike rental: four stations on Mallorca, one of them in the Hotel Rei del Mediterrani Palace in Playa de Muro – the address under which the provider has been known in Alcúdia for years. Here you can get Wilier and Fuji road bikes from €99 per week, but you need to factor in two things: the north station only opens seasonally (6 March–21 May and 20 September–25 October), and insurance costs an extra €20 per bike.

Unlike some rental companies in the north of the island, insurance is not included in the hire price here – factor in the €20 per bike when comparing prices. On the other hand, the included accessory package, right down to a rucksack and water bottle, is more comprehensive than usual.
About Fred Rompelberg / Rompelberg Cycling Holidays
Behind the name is a Dutch operator (based in Dorst) that combines cycling holidays, guided tours and hire bikes on Mallorca. The partnership with Fuji has existed since 2016 and with Wilier Triestina since 2023; the fleet is renewed annually, according to the provider. The selection ranges from the Fuji Alu Ultegra (from €99/week) via carbon models to the Wilier Filante SLR with Dura-Ace Di2 (from €405/week); there are also e-road bikes (Wilier Cento1 HY and Garda HY), BESV e-bikes, sport bikes and a tandem (from €248/week).
The bike rental in the north is located in the Hotel Rei del Mediterrani Palace in Playa de Muro, a few kilometres from Alcúdia – open daily 9–12 and 15–18:30, but only in two seasonal windows (6 March–21 May and 20 September–25 October). Outside these times you hire from Rompelberg at Playa de Palma or in Can Pastilla, where the station in the Aparthotel Fontanellas Playa is open continuously from 19 December to 1 November.
The bike setup is neatly handled: you provide your height or bike-fit data such as saddle height when booking, and the bike is ready pre-adjusted on arrival. The team fits your own pedals and saddle; loan pedals (Look, Shimano SPD, SPD-SL, flat) and Garmin or Wahoo mounts are available on request. If you'd rather not come to the station, you can use the island-wide delivery service from the bike centre at Playa de Palma. You'll find further providers in the area at bike hire Alcúdia.

Steer clear when buying a bike
I didn't hire a bike but bought a used one and had it delivered.
My money was debited on the very first day, but the bike was only delivered after around 10 – some unanswered – emails & calls, 6 weeks later.
When I unpacked it, unfortunately it wasn't roadworthy, even though a service is clearly advertised on the homepage.
In total I had to pay another €250 for new brake discs, the chain, an inner tube etc. for the repair.
A complaint email also went unanswered after a week.
So unfortunately absolutely not recommended.

Finger weg für Fahrradkauf
Habe kein Fahrrad gemietet, sondern gebraucht gekauft und liefern lassen.
Mein Geld wurde direkt am ersten Tag eingezogen, das Fahrrad aber erst nach circa 10, teils unbeantworteten, Emails & Anrufen, nach 6 Wochen geliefert.
Als ich es auspackte, war es leider nicht fahrtüchtig, obwohl auf der Homepage klar ein Service angepriesen wird.
Insgesamt musste ich nochmal 250€ für neue Bremsscheiben, die Kette, Schlauch etc. für die Reparatur bezahlen.
Auf eine Beschwerde-Mail wurde auch nach einer Woche nicht mehr reagiert.
Leider also absolut nicht zu empfehlen.
Quality control
When the bike is handed over, I expect a ready-to-ride machine! This isn't about size adjustments, but about readiness for use. In my case and among my circle there were instances of inadequately fastened components – that's a complete no-go and a safety risk! Perhaps working air pumps could also be provided in the bike cellar at Taurus Park – thanks

Qualitätssicherung
Wenn das Rad übergen wird, erwarte ich eine fahrfertige Maschine ! Hier geht es nicht um Grösseneinstellungen, sondern um die Einsatzbereitschaftskeit. Bei mir und meinem Umfeld sind Fälle von nicht ausreichend befestigten Bauteilen vorgekommen – das geht GAR nicht und ist ein Sicherheitsrisiko ! Vielleicht können im Radkeller am Taurus Park auch mal funktionierende Luftpumpen zur Verfügung gestellt werden – Danke
Hires out road bikes that then aren't available on site. Doesn't respond to enquiries.
When picking up, I was given a road bike that didn't match the dimensions I had ordered (and had confirmed) at all, because these dimensions were supposedly not possible for the chosen model. After the first day (unpleasant because of the far too small bike), a bike in my size fortunately became free – unfortunately from a lower category.
For the coming holiday I've now asked in advance, just to be safe, whether the bike I'd order really is configurable – no answer. A week later I asked again – again no response whatsoever.
Now our entire group has booked with other rental companies.

Vermietet Rennräder, die vor Ort dann nicht lieferbar sind. Reagiert nicht auf Nachfragen.
Beim Abholen bekam ich ein Rennrad, das überhaupt nicht den von mir bestellten (und bestätigten) Abmessungen entsprach, da diese Abmessungen für das gewählte Modell angeblich nicht möglich seien. Nach dem ersten (wegen des viel zu kleinen Rades unangenehmen) Tag wurde glücklicherweise ein Rad in meiner Größe frei – leider aus einer schlechteren Kategorie.
Für den kommenden Urlaub habe ich nun vorsichtshalber nachgefragt, ob das Rad, das ich bestellen würde, auch wirklich konfigurierbar ist – keine Antwort. Eine Wochen später habe ich erneut nachgefragt – wieder keinerlei Reaktion.
Jetzt hat unsere gesamte Gruppe bei anderen Verleihern gebucht.

Very nice and competent team. They even picked us up from Cap de Formentor when a spoke broke. Bikes in TOP condition and great value for money. HIGHLY recommended.
