VAS Rent a Bike has hired out bikes from Palma since 2023 – by its own account to more than 4,000 customers by now. The operating company is the Spanish Vinci Active Sport S.L. As well as the store in Palma (Carrer Gremí de Corredors), there is now a second pick-up point at the Hotel JS Palma Stay in Playa de Palma – a bike-friendly place with its own cycling centre for secure storage and simple maintenance, around five minutes from the airport. Is the delivery service really free?
According to the provider, yes, but with conditions: at least 3 days' hire, booking at least 48 hours in advance and a maximum of 6 bikes per order. For shorter hire periods, tiered delivery costs of between 30 and 70 euros per order are quoted. The delivery service applies only from the Palma location, but covers the whole island.
Are pedals included in the rental price?
No, the bikes are hired out without pedals as standard. Various pedal types can be added as an extra, or you fit your own pedals and your own saddle to the hire bike.
Do I need insurance?
An accident-damage insurance is optional. The Basic version covers damage to the bike up to 500 euros, the All-In version up to 800 euros including a breakdown service. Without insurance, you are liable under the rental terms for damage at the new-parts price of the affected parts plus labour; theft is not covered in either version.
How can I cancel?
If you cancel more than 30 days before the hire begins, you get a full refund; between 29 and 7 days beforehand, 50 per cent; from 6 days beforehand, no refund. In addition, cancellation insurance from 8 euros can be added, allowing a refund up to 72 hours before the hire starts.
