Bicimed is a family-run bike hire with two stations on Mallorca: the original location in Alcúdia (Experience Center) and the new "La Course" shop in Playa de Muro, where, since the move, you can get road bikes, full-suspension bikes and city bikes right on the Playa de Muro promenade. The fleet is limited in brands but targeted: Simplon for road bikes and e-race, Radon for MTB and full-suspension. Under its own terms of contract, Bicimed does not work with a classic deposit but with a small cash security plus a credit card on file. The insurance is optional and does not replace personal-injury or theft cover – factor in the possible excess of up to €500 if you don't have your own travel insurance.

Bicimed has been family-run since 2014 and now operates two stations: the original one in Alcúdia (Experience Center) and, since the move, the "La Course" shop in Playa de Muro, Av. s'Albufera 27C. Bikes can only be collected and returned at the station where they were booked – the two locations carry different models according to the operator's website. For road bikes, Bicimed relies on Simplon from Vorarlberg, including the Kiaro Pmax e-race with Shimano 105 Di2 (2x12) and Mahle X20 direct drive. In the MTB and full-suspension segment there are Radon models such as the Slide, the Slide Trail 29 and the Slide Hybrid E e-MTB to choose from. For outings without any sporting ambition there are city bikes and e-city bikes from Gitane (such as the Salsa with a Shimano Nexus 7-speed hub gear), optionally with a child seat, as well as children's MTBs from the Gitane Kobalt range in 20 and 24 inch. According to the general terms of contract, Bicimed requires a €20 cash deposit for accessories (saddlebag, tube, pump, on-board computer) at collection, as well as a credit card whose number is noted on the hire contract – leaving an ID is not accepted. Material-accident insurance can optionally be booked for a surcharge and covers neither personal injury nor theft; without insurance you are fully liable for repair or replacement. Anyone wanting to have their own pedals fitted should reserve this in advance, as Bicimed does not guarantee the availability of suitable pedals, especially in the high season (February–May, September–October).Photos

I hired the bike for a week. Collection was ok. Unfortunately the body scanner was out of order, so it was done manually (otherwise it would have been 5 stars). It was ok and ready to go. The Bavarians are simply a nice bunch and always up for a chat over coffee. :-) Good atmosphere. I'll be back next year to try out the Pride II.

Habe mir das Rad für eine Woche ausgeliehen. Abholung war ok. Leider war der Bodyscanner defekt, daher nur manuell (ansonsten hätte es 5 Sterne gegeben). War ok und ready to go. Die Bayern sind einfach ein nettes Völkchen und immer für ein Schwätzchen mit Kaffee zu haben. :-) Gute Atmosphäre. Komme nächstes Jahr wieder um das Pride II zu testen.

We hired 2 bikes for 1 week; they were Simplon bikes, so top, price ok. Perhaps a slightly cool atmosphere among the staff.

Wir haben 2 Bikes für 1 Woche gemietet, es waren Simplon Räder, also top, Preis ok. Evtl etwas kühle Stimmung bei den Angestellten.
Polite is different
The bikes here may be ever so great or whatever, but the treatment as a customer is beyond dreadful. Perhaps it's only us women who have this problem, that's hard for me to judge, but the reviews on Google certainly speak volumes too.

Hier mögen die Räder noch so toll oder sonst was sein, die Behandlung als Kunde ist unter aller Kanone. Vielleicht haben das Problem auch nur wir Frauen, das kann ich schlecht einschätzen, allerdings sprechen die Bewertungen bei Google ja auch Bände.
