Bike rental in Port de Pollença
Port de Pollença is arguably Mallorca’s best-known road-cycling address: the classics over the Coll de Femenia into the Tramuntana and out to Cap Formentor all start here. The choice of rentals is correspondingly dense – eleven of the fifteen bike rentals are based right in the port, including specialist road-bike shops such as Pro Cycle Hire, Pollensa Cycling Team, Rent March and the Pinarello Experience, plus the hotel stations of Hürzeler and the Hoposa Sporthotel. Prefer delivery? Providers such as Elite Sports deliver daily to Port de Pollença from Can Picafort, and Pollensa Cycling Team delivers free of charge in Pollença and Alcúdia from three rental days. You’ll find every shop, hotel station and delivery service with genuine reviews and transparency boxes in the list above.
How to find the right rental in Pollença
- Bike type first: Road bikes dominate the bay – from Colnago and Pinarello to Canyon, Orbea, Trek and Wilier, almost every major brand is represented. Trekking and kids’ bikes for the family are available at Rent March or 2GoCycling in Port de Pollença, for example, and city bikes at 2GoCycling and Bike Island among others.
- Shop or delivery: Most providers deliver to your accommodation – according to Pollensa Cycling Team’s price transparency, delivery is even free in Pollença and Alcúdia for rentals of more than 3 days. The Pinarello Experience, by contrast, deliberately relies on in-store collection, including a bike fit at handover.
- Compare insurance and deposit: The range runs from all-inclusive with no deposit (Elite Sports) to optional add-on insurance with an excess – you’ll see the actual final price in the transparency boxes of the profiles.
- Mind the minimum rental period: Rentals such as Active Mallorca and Rent March only accept advance bookings from 3 days; shorter hires are possible on the spot subject to availability.
- Peak season means booking ahead: In spring (March–May) and autumn (September–October) teams and cycling groups train in the Bay of Pollença – popular road bike sizes are then often gone weeks in advance.
The finest routes from Pollença
- Cap Formentor: The classic right on the doorstep – around 40 km and about 700 m of climbing from Port de Pollença, over the Coll de sa Creueta past the Mirador Es Colomer to the lighthouse and back.
- Coll de Femenia and Lluc: Your way into the Tramuntana – around 45 km and about 900 m of climbing from Pollença. The climb to the Coll de Femenia stretches over a good 7 km at a moderate gradient – perfect for easing into the mountains.
- Sa Calobra: The big Tramuntana day – over Femenia and Lluc down to the sea and back up the 26 hairpins; from Pollença that adds up to around 90 km and over 2,000 m of climbing.
